Douton Town Sharing Project - Supporting Public Health Through Collectibles

Introduction:

Hi! My name is Jay!

Thank you for visiting and reading this little background on Douton Town and the work I have put into it thus far! Douton Town is the name of a fictional region within the Pokémon universe, but it has no official affiliation with The Pokémon Company International.

During the height of the Pandemic in 2020, amidst working in the healthcare field, I wondered how to combine my passion for my Pokémon hobby and public health.

Background:

Since elementary school, I have leaned towards writing, which is why writing permeated many facets of my life, no matter what class I took or the degree I studied. When I started this website, I had in mind to post various fictional stories intertwined with health facts and/or themes.

Life has a way of throwing many surprises at us, which is how we grow. I have been swamped balancing my life expectations and responsibilities with my hobbies and philanthropic aspirations.

While I continue to work on storytelling and education, I am very excited that I have been able to get a small project up and running – one that I hope will bloom and bare lots of fruit for everyone one day!

Current:

Since late 2022, I have combined my dorky card sleeves/protection interests with my Douton Town goals. I started researching sources and preferences for the right accessories for trading card players and collectors. The experimental and product testing phases were the seeds of this project. The Red, Blue, and Green label sleeves are the early seedlings that have begun to sprout! The Yellow Label item is still undergoing R&D. I am a team of 1, so things tend to take a lot of time between Family and Work.

I was able to work with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles once around 2022. I enjoyed lending my support by combining the generosity of the PokéTwitter community and our combined love for Pokémon!

Philanthropy:

Similarly, on a more permanent, long-term route, accessories labelled and distributed by Douton Town will serve as bridges between the hobby and public health. A portion (minimum of 10-12%) of total sales of items in this category will be set aside for bi-annual or annual lump sum donations to organizations such as CHLA and others. Examples of some items in this category are the Blue, Red, and Green label card sleeves and Douton Desk Bulk Box-A (large, non-sleeved)/ Bulk Box-B (Smaller, fits sleeved cards too).

I’ve also determined that it would be great to allow some of these funds to be used for the needs of local families connected by social media. Social media can be a powerful tool in community building. I hope this tool can help Douton Town reach out to others. This will be for the later stages of fruit-bearing, though!

We must carry on the flag of philanthropy and community-building together! So, I hope we can combine our love for our hobbies with our care and love for our fellow human beings. [And Animals!]

Wholesale prices are available for small businesses and smaller streamers!

Because

Number 1: I do not have a near-endless amount of inventory like large companies do!

Number 2 (and more importantly): A community's strength is usually more evident and well-fostered at its earliest stages, just like children and young adults! So we should support them!
